Music ramblings
(( Sunday, November 10, 2002 // 02: 15 AM ))
I'm sitting here listening to lots of different mp3's. Sometimes I forget how much I like having music pumping into my ears. I love rhythmic patterns. It brings me an odd sort of satisfaction to just feel the energy that music creates. And it can be any kind of music. I get a rush from listening to Tchaikovsky's No. 6 March. I also really like Matchbox 20's new song, Disease right now. I mean, I really like it. Which is weird to me. I don't normally like music like that. Yet somehow, here I am playing it over and over and over again, and loving it.
It's especially fun when it's late at night, like now. I'm the only one awake, which makes me feel like time has slowed just for me, just for a little while. I'm alone with my music. It's awesome.
So, here's what I've been listening to:
Matchbox 20 - Disease
Ludacris - What's Your Fantasy
Nelly - Country Grammar
Santana - Smooth
And I'm currently downloading: Eminem - Cleaning Out My Closet
Dude, one of those Eminem mp3's that just downloaded was not actually music, but rather a video of a couple of hot girls making out. That was... unexpected!
Anyway, I like music and I want to spend more time listening to it and creating it than I have been lately. I played my flute just the other day and it was so great. It's really relaxing and wonderful, and it's a huge self esteem boost to know that I'm the one making those sounds flow out of my flute. With wind instruments, I feel like it's really easy to imagine that you're pouring your soul into your instrument, making music come alive with your own breath. It's a fascinating and beautiful experience.
Rydia plays the didgeridoo, of all things! She wants to get together with me and my flute and CatGirl and her drum and have all of us do a little musical improv session together. That will be weird, but what the hell, right? Could be fun!
Okay, that's all I have to say for now. I'm going to download a few more songs and watch those girls make out again... Good-night!
