Mars

And now for something happy...
Marzipan went home! Marzipan is a lovely German Shepherd mix who was a resident at our shelter for a while. She looks about eight years old. She is two. She's had a hard life, to say the least. Her skin was in terrible condition. She has a bad case of candida that she is receiving continued treatment for. Her fur is still bristly, and if you know German Shepherds, you know that's abnormal. When she was weak and had to stay in the hospital section of the building, I went and sat with her and she tried to sit in my lap, pushing her head into my chest, just trying to be as close to me as possible. She was a shelter transfer from Pinole. We took her the day before she was scheduled to be euthanized.
And now she is in a home! With truly wonderful people, who care about her, who weren't scared away by her medical problems, who love her for the gentle soul that she is.
Last night, Cate told me she was being adopted! I ran into the office and hugged her and kissed her all over her face and said, "Congratulations, Mars!" All of a sudden, I had to step outside and take a few deep breaths, because I knew if I didn't, I'd soon be crying in front of everyone. Not entirely because I was sad to see her go (even though that was the case), but moreso because I was so moved by the palpable feeling of love in the air as her new people held her new bright blue leash attached to her new collar they bought for her, and they all looked like a family together. And now, they are.
Congratulations, Marzipan! I love you!! Be good. :-)
Love,
Meg
