Phone call

(( Monday, November 18, 2002 // 07: 31 PM ))

Shelly just called, and we talked about Logan for a while. She said her cell phone wasn't working, so she didn't get my message. She only got a message from Ellen about a half hour ago. She is so sweet to call me. I told her I went down there and got to spend some time with him. I told her it was nice.

She said, "I'm so, so glad you were there, and I'm so, so sorry I wasn't."

I told her I said good-bye for her, too.

She told me about sanctuaries and how sending him to one or adopting him out after what happened with that other dog makes him a huge liability. And sadly enough, one lawsuit would send our shelter completely out of business.

Also, she told me there was stuff with Logan I didn't even know about. Shelly and Josh were Logan's favorite people, and he went after Josh twice in the last week. He got frustrated and tried to pull Josh down, and another time, he lunged at Josh. So, Josh was right in his message... It was just getting worse. I didn't know any of that. So he wasn't the happy dog he appeared to be today. His quality of life has been diminishing. Poor, sweet Logan. I guess it was the only thing we could do. I think it was the right thing to do, too.

My eyes ache from crying. I have a huge headache. But I'm really glad Shelly called. Talking to her made me feel tons better. It's amazing what talking to people who truly understand can do for you.

What a day, man. What a day...
