Disneyland!

(( Saturday, January 4, 2003 // 02: 13 AM ))

Disneyland was SO much freakin' fun! I love being on vacation with Joe!!! We have the best time ever together. And I think it's so funny how I always wonder how we can spend so many hours at Disneyland. I think to myself, "We're spending the next seven hours there? What will we do??" But we always find a lot of stuff to do, and time always flies, and we always feel happy and refreshed just being there.

I love watching the fireworks at Disneyland. I don't care how corny this is, but every time I watch those fireworks set to the Disney music, I get all teary eyed. The lyrics are just SO true, whether they're "Remember the magic in our lives" or "There's magic everywhere you look," it's just so true. Life is magical. Fireworks are magical. They are so gorgeous I can't even believe it. And timed to the music? All the more special! It is a fantastic experience. Also, watching children hold out their arms and spin around, smiling, in the fake snow (soap bubble foam) falling from the lights on Main Street in Disneyland is about one of the most precious experiences I can possibly imagine. It makes me want to cry when I see it. And to me, it's those tiny moments in life, those amazing things like smiles, laughter, and fireworks that are so magical to me.

The above stories prove one very undeniable fact: I am a huge sap.

Spending relaxing time with Joe was exactly what I needed. No work worries for either of us. Only fun and silliness! And lots of happy moments. I love that I fall in love with him over and over again all the time. I feel even more in love with him now than I ever did. That in itself is awesome. We stayed up for hours just talking the first night we were down there, because we weren't really ready to sleep just yet. I love lying around just talking with him. He's my best friend!

Also, we got to be really goofy together when we bought these duck beak noise makers. We were honking out various songs to each other, trying to guess what song the other person was doing. God, that was funny. Annoying for others, I'm sure, but we had fun!

We rode The Haunted Mansion multiple times, Pirates of the Carribean, Star Tours. We even got a picture of us after the Star Tours ride which is really too funny for words! We rode a kiddie rollercoaster based on Heimlich from "A Bug's Life." God that was a weird ride! 'Animal crackers, you cannot escape Heimlich!" We watched the 3-D movies too. Those are always fun. The bug one freaks me out because of the various surprises they have for the audience! But it's very cool. We looked at the concept art for various Disney films and wished they'd chosen different forms of the characters for the actual Disney movies. It's amazing all the different ideas they come up with for each character! I mean, Ursula as a lionfish looks SO cool! I love looking at concept art!

Then in one of the stores, I bought an awesome arm band and Disney tee shirt. I feel super cool! I also really like the sunglasses Joe bought, because they make me look like a movie star.

New Year's Eve itself consisted of waiting a long ass time for fireworks in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle. It was obvious we are all a bunch of geeks when Joe and I along with three people on my left were all playing games on our cell phones!! I was playing Hangman, in case you wondered. They had tiny shows every hour where these weird people that no one knows sang Disney songs and talked too loud into the microphone. The actual fireworks at midnight were really awesome. Everyone sang Auld Lang Syne together. Joe and I kissed. It was a wonderful night!

The coolest part was that we wandered through some of the different lands after midnight looking for food. And in Fantasyland, they had a DJ spinning 80s tunes. We came upon this circle of people, and one of the Disneyland employees started breakdancing!! He was really good, too! Then about four other guys took turns breakdancing. I couldn't believe they were moving like that, spinning all over the floor and doing these crazy twists and turns. It was unreal! Everyone screamed and cheered on with delight. It was definitely one of the coolest things I have ever seen at that park! I wish I could break dance. Those guys kick ass!

In other news, my feet hurt like crazy walking around Disneyland! I really hate having a foot condition. Hopefully after I get some new shoes and stretch my calves every day, they'll get better. I hope, I hope, I hope! Plantar Fasciitis is evil.

We spent Monday evening, Tuesday, and Wednesday at Disneyland and California Adventure. It was more fun than words can describe (yet somehow I'm using plenty of words, aren't I??). Just being there made me so happy I wanted to cry. I got teared up when I first saw the giant Christmas tree. We haven't been there since our honeymoon in March. It is just a very special and happy place for me! And coming home made me miss L.A. so much I wanted to cry. Say what you will about L.A., but it's the only place that has ever felt like home to me. There are so many cool things about that city, and the proximity to Disneyland is one of them. I had an absolutely fantastic time being there again!

Before we left, we got to have lunch with one of our favorite L.A. friends. The deli we ate at was awesome. The waitress and the woman who seated us were hysterical. Such characters! They knew our friend really well so they joked with us a lot. They even told a few dirty jokes which were really funny. It was weird, and a whole lot of fun!

Today, I am exhausted. I feel good though. It's been a nice easy day. Slept late, chatted on the phone with family, wrote a lot, and bummed around. Did I mention I love being on vacation?

I am so, so glad we went. Elated, even! And I finally got my Disneyland fix.

You know, Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth!
