Recovering's a Bitch
(( Sunday, June 1, 2003 // 11: 24 PM ))
I changed my bandage tonight. Joe made me a new one. He also helped me calm down. I can handle other peoples' emergencies. I have in the past. I've remained calm. I've done all the right things. But when I saw my thumb tonight, looking far worse than it had on Friday... When I couldn't tell whether that black spot on my finger was dried blood or my own rotting skin, I just cried. It was only blood, so that's a relief. But I couldn't even think of how to clean it. I couldn't tell if there were bandage threads stuck to my finger or whether it was skin. My thumb is simply gross and horrifying and I can't stand looking at it.
I'm wearing the new bandage now, complete with Neosporin cream underneath. I think I'll see my doctor in the morning, so they can help me clean it and make sure it's healing okay. Then I'll see how caring for Vic goes.
I'm sleepy. I wore myself out worrying about my finger, I think. Last night, I even dreamt that when I took off the bandage, my thumb looked completely normal except for one tiny scar. If that's not wishful thinking, I don't know what is.
Mostly, today was pretty great. Joe and I stayed up all night, then went out driving early this morning. We mailed something at the post office, then just drove around for a bit, and watched the sun come up. I haven't seen a sunrise in quite a while. It was pretty wonderful! And since we were up, we got McDonald's breakfasts. The new McGriddle sandwiches are pretty good!
Joe and I also went to the movies today. We saw "Finding Nemo." And I have to say, it was so much cuter, funnier, and more enjoyable than I expected it to be! I really liked it, actually, which was a pleasant surprise. Another movie I didn't expect to like as much as I did? "Barbershop." We watched it last night, and it was really good!
In other news, I'm getting better at doing more things on my own, like buckling and unbuckling my seatbelt. I can even tie my own shoes! Typing is going a bit more smoothly, too. Progress is good.
In even other news, I made a decision to write an entry every day for the month of June. Simply because I've never done that before. We'll see how it goes.
And, more happy news: This is my 100th entry! Woo!
Happy June, everybody! See you tomorrow!

Awww... Poor Meggie's thumb. :( I hope it continues to heal okay.
(Want me to kiss it and make it better? *lmao*)

Aww, you poor thing =\ I really hope your thumb gets better, it seems as though it's really bothering you, and that can't be good, I would imagine it would hurt really bad too, o.O I'm sorry.
I want to see 'Finding Nemo' SO bad, but I'm saving it for next month when I go on vacation to Las Vegas. I'm glad you thought it was good because I'm really expecting something great from it! *laughs*
Good luck with writing everyday! I'll be back soon to look for todays entry! *giggles*
