Lasts

(( Friday, June 6, 2003 // 01: 07 PM ))

It seems there have been a couple of "lasts" this week. Wednesday was the last day I taught at the water sanitation plant this year. I might get to do it again in the Fall, but I'm not sure. That might have been the last time ever! Awww...

The class that day was a second grade class. The kids were very sweet, and some of them did, in fact, know what an exoskeleton was. Now they all do! One little boy was very inquisitive and cute, and every time he asked a question, he tugged on my arm, or patted my leg, saying, "Excuse me, excuse me..." and then asking his question. When I was teaching them about otters in small groups at the picnic tables, he rested his head on my arm for a little bit! It was pretty cute, I thought.

And today was my last Animal Tales class! The new registrar observed my classes, which was cool. I was nervous about being observed until I met her and saw how friendly and sweet she is. She told me she thought it would be great to have a better understanding of what goes on in the classes by observing one, since all the questions about classes will be going to her. And now that she's seen mine, she said she feels a lot better!

Since it was the last class, there were class evaluation forms to be handed out. Almost all the moms filled them out right when they got them and handed them back to me! Always a good sign, because they only hand the teachers the evaluations when they write good things on them! I read them and loved the rave reviews! There was some constructive criticism, such as: there should be a craft for every class, because the kids like to take something home with them. That makes sense. I was mixing it up a bit by not having a craft every single time. I think they made crafts for two of the four classes. So that's good to know. And my favorite thing was that two separate moms wrote, "Meghan is GREAT with kids!" Yay for me!! That made my day!

Okay, so only two "lasts," after all.

But that's cool. "Lasts" always lead to new "firsts" and my next classes will be starting up soon. Stay tuned for cute stories from Sticky Fingers and Animal Antics! I'm sure there will be plenty!
