Sticky Fingers
(( Tuesday, June 17, 2003 // 06: 16 PM ))
This morning was the first set of my new classes. Today was Sticky Fingers! One of the students was in a class of mine last summer! It's been a year since I last saw him. He's three now, and so cute! I love having repeat students!!!
And one little girl was saying over and over that she is now three years old, which makes her old enough to be in my class. Her sister? Well, her sister is too little to be in my class. But she is big enough. Oh, yes. I know this, because she must have said it twenty times!! It was pretty cute, actually.
And in my second Sticky Fingers class, one little girl lost her nametag. I told her I'd get her a new one by next week. She said okay. At the end of the class, she was crying about something and didn't say goodbye. Then her mom came back, popped her head in, and said, "She's still really upset about the nametag!"
"Oh, no!" I said. As I started to tell the little girl in the doorway what I planned to do about it, she walked backwards out of sight! It was so weird! I suddenly felt like I was in the middle of a movie (do you every feel that way? I call them "movie moments"). Her mom ran after her, then stopped in the doorway and asked me what I was going to say so that she could relay the message. "Just tell her I have her name in the computer and I'll print out a new nametag for her." Her mother repeated what I said to the little girl, laughed, thanked me, and said goodbye. Who knew she'd get so upset over something like that? Poor kid!
Also, when did five year olds get so big?! Seriously, the human race is evolving before our very eyes in the form of much-too-large children. It freaks me out!
Anyway. I hope tomorrow's classes go well, too, and are just as fun!
