Cute Things

(( Wednesday, July 16, 2003 // 11: 44 AM ))

At the park today, two cute things happened.

Cute Thing #1 ) A little girl was playing with sand and small plastic toys near where I was sitting. She turned to me and asked, "Would you like some of my strawberry ice cream cake?"

"Yes, I would love some," I said with a smile.

She put wet sand in a little plastic dish and said, "Would you like sugar powder on that?"

"Yes, please," I said.

She sprinkled some dry sand on top, and handed me my dessert. I made chewing noises and said, "Wow, this is delicious! Do I owe you anything?"

"No it's FREE!" she said with much enthusiasm.

"Well, thank you very much!" I made a few more chewing noises and handed the plate back to her. "You're a great cook!"

She smiled at me. Then she turned to her mom and asked if she'd like some strawberry ice cream cake, too, which she did. She started making a "cake" all over again for her mom.

It was all quite adorable.

Cute Thing #2 ) I see a mom and her little girl at the park every so often. They were there today, and I was happy to have a chance to chat with the mom again. Her little girl was playing all over the place. She's only 4 months older than Victor, and is a total cutie. She ran over to where I was sitting, pointed past me, and said, "Sing? Sing?"

I looked behind me. "You want to swing?" I asked her.

"See-ing!" she said. I took that as a yes.

I scooted over so that she could swing, but when her mom went to lift her, the girl squirmed away. She pointed at me and said, "Sing!"

Her mom laughed and said to me, "I think she wants you to swing her."

I stood up and held my hands out to the little girl. She gladly lifted her arms so I could put her in the swing. Then I pushed her for a while, keeping an eye on Vic, and chatting with her mom, who was also helping me keep an eye on him.

I can't believe that little girl came right up and asked me to swing her. It was just SO cute!

(Okay, I lied. One more...)

Cute Thing #3 ) Victor started walking on Monday, all by his little self. It looks really cute. It's one of those things that's so cute you just have to laugh when you see it. Everyone at the park who hadn't met him before was surprised he's only been walking on his own for a few days, because he's already doing so well. It's cool to see his confidence grow, too. He doesn't give up when he falls two or three times. He has to fall like seven times in a row before he'll decide to crawl over a certain area. It's nice to watch him learning something new and fun. Yay!
