Classes and a Story

(( Thursday, July 17, 2003 // 05: 16 PM ))

This week wrapped up my current set of preschool classes! I handed out class evaluations to all the parents, and the ones I saw right away were all very positive. One mom even handed it back to me and said, "It was a wonderful class. Thanks!" I looked at the evaluation, and on every subject, she'd circled 5 (the highest score) and under comments she wrote in big letters, "Class was GREAT!"

YAY!!!

I showed our registrar upstairs, because I was just so excited! I was like a kid with a report card or something. But seriously, getting evaluations like that is great for the ego.

Even better is that FIVE kids from the set of classes that just ended signed up for my next class. "You have repeat customers!" Nina said to me. Super cool!

Oh, but my other poor class... The one that was all about bats for five weeks with the 4-6 year olds and no parents? Looks like it's going to get canned. Apparently, no one wants a five week bat course. What is wrong with everyone?? It's BATS! I love bats! Apparently, I'm the only one! Hee!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to my other class about baby animals with the five students I already know and like. I think it'll be great! I mean, it's baby animals. How can you go wrong?

Also, a story...

Once upon a time, a little rat was dropped off at the wildlife center. The people said they were moving and he could be donated as a food animal. This means the wildlife center could humanely euthanize him and feed him to other animals. A few people met the rat and knew he was special. His life was spared and he was kept as a pet education animal. They named him Klondike.

Klondike was already three when he was adopted by the pet education department. He was used in many classes and pet by countless children. Every time I was alone with him I sang the Klondike song to him. You know the one...

Oh, that chocolatey coated ice cream
Loaded big and thick, no room for a sti-ick.
(pause)
What would you do-OO-oo for a Klondike bar?

He lived at the wildlife center, enchanting children and adults alike, for two years. He passed away Monday in his sleep. He will be missed by all.

Good-bye, Klondike...

The End
