Phlebotomy? Phleboto-you!
(( Tuesday, July 22, 2003 // 11: 03 PM ))
Yesterday, a nice lady took my blood away. Just two vials, though, so no biggie. Apparently, I have small veins, so she used a butterfly needle. And, I've actually heard of those before, because my mom told me about them when she was in Medical Assistant school (she graduated in June -- go Mom!).
This morning, I got a voicemail from my doctor: "Hi, Meghan, your blood test results are in and we just need you to come in for a followup appointment so we can go over them. Thanks so much!"
Now, I don't know about anyone else, but it's been my experience that whenever I have normal test results, the doctor either mentions it in passing, or I receive a cool little sheet in the mail that has a box checked next to the word, "Normal."
So, uh... What the heck's going on this time that I need to go IN?? What did the test results show??! Now it's all I'm thinking about. I tried to get an appointment to go in today, but no luck. So I'll have to wait until Friday to find out what's going on with me, and try to keep my over-active imagination under control in the meantime. I am sure I don't have any horrible debilitating disease... Well, I'm not sure, and that's the problem! But I'm trying to be sure.
One of the things I was tested for was rheumatoid arthritis and I'm thinking the test may actually have come back positive. I don't know whether to hope that's it or not! What if it's something worse? What if there are multiple things very, very wrong??
Now I just have to wait until Friday and try not to get too stressed or else my eczema will go nuts. Listen to me. Pretty soon, I'll be sitting on the porch steps muttering bitterly about teenagers on skateboards. Oh dear god, I did that today!! Time to go searching for nursing homes, I guess...
