Holidailies and Petsitting Tales
(( Tuesday, December 2, 2003 // 03: 38 PM ))
Guess what I did? I signed up for Holidailies yesterday! And then I didn't write an entry! But, well, um... I have a note!
Dear Holidailies,
Please excuse Meg's absence from writing yesterday. She was running errands like a crazy person before work, then didn't get home from work until 10:30pm, at which point she was coerced into playing the brand new sequel to her favorite video game that her husband bought for her. Please understand that it is impossible for her to resist Space Channel 5.
Thank you,
Meg's Mom
So, there you have it! A forged note from my mom. I'm excused!
I think Holidailies should go pretty well. It's not like I have full-time job or kids or anything else that would keep me super busy. I have time to write, so I'm going to. Hooray!
In fact, I'm going to right now! Here we go!...
Today was my last day caring for Cici. And I'm glad, because today was also the worst day caring for Cici. I've got eight welts on my arm. Because she took a swipe at me? No. Because she bit me! Each set of four marks is from four sharp teeth sinking into my skin when she went psycho on me. Of course, the second bite is entirely my fault, because I continued brushing her after the first one. Apparently, I'm not on top of my game today!
I also left a note at Cici's home offering to replace their dying plant. It's fine to put me in charge of your animals, people. But not your poor plants. I'm sorry.
Anyway, I'm glad that's over. No more bullshit Neighborhood Watch neighbor to harrass me, and no more kitty bites. Did I tell you about NWN? He was totally condescending to me about leaving the garage light on as I'd been asked to do! "Who leaves their garage light on all night long??" he asked.
I don't know, fucker! I'm just following directions! Jesus!
Then he gave me shit when I drove Joe's car instead of my own. He said from his own porch, "I was about to come over there and find out who was in that house, because I didn't recognize the car."
"It's my husband's car," I said.
"Oh, well that's okay."
Oh, thank you for giving me permission, then. Seriously, y'all. Wtf?! I think his position of Neighborhood Watch Man has gone straight to his head.
Not all petsitting is bad, though (and for the most part, caring for Cici went really well). A bit over a week ago, I took care of Crazy Lab Puppy, and it went amazingly well. I took CLP around the block twice and did lots of training with him. I worked on "heel", "sit", "down", and "stand," with him in various combinations. He was so well behaved!
Then I put him in his crate and took the older lab out. She pulled more than the puppy! I took her to a fenced in area and played "fetch" with her for a long time (her favorite game in the world!), then walked the rest of the way around the block, at which point she was tired. I was tired, too, but felt great. I'd taken a nice long walk and spent time with some super sweet dogs. What a great morning! The rest of the day, Joe and I just hung out and relaxed. We watched the extended version of The Two Towers, which I really liked! I thought the extra scenes were awesome, for the most part. Then that night, I had a bottle of Hornsby's Cider and relaxed even more. It was a pretty spectacular day, actually.
A day I should have written about that very night! And now you see why I joined Holidailies... It's something to make me accountable, to encourage me to write more often so that I don't forget any of the awesome things I usually think I'm "too busy" to write about. Seriously, I'm sitting at home at 3pm on a Tuesday, eating bologna sandwiches and updating my website. I'm about to go play some more Space Channel 5. Hoo boy, look how busy I am!
So yeah, it'll be fun to be writing more often. I'll be back tomorrow! I hope you will, too!
Edited to Add: I spoke with Cici's owner just now, and he is just one of the nicest guys ever! I'm glad they're back safe and sound with their kitty!

Yeah, hopefully so! Good luck with keeping up with Holidailies! I'll be watching for your entries. :) And enjoy your DVD when it comes. I'm sure you will!

I'm waiting on tenterhooks for my copy of The Two Towers: Extended Edition to arrive in the mail:)
And mmmm ciderrrr:)
I don't know how well I'm going to do at the Holidailies, but I'm giving it my best shot.
Hopefully Vic will permit me a few minutes at night when I don't get a chance to update at work.
