Some Travel Prep
(( Wednesday, December 10, 2003 // 08: 46 PM ))
I just got off the phone with the hotel I'll be staying at in London. I called to ask about power converters. The girl I spoke with said the hotel does supply them, but sometimes they run short, so if I really need one, she suggested I bring my own. She could not have been more cute and helpful!
Can I just tell you how nervous I was dialling overseas at this hour? I was scared to death I'd misdial and disturb some poor, sleeping Londoner! Luckily, that did not happen.
Also, what's with the different plugs and power adapters all over the world? Why are there converters from American plugs to European plugs, and European plugs to Asian plugs, and European/American/Asian plugs to Australian plugs? What's with all the plugs?! Why isn't there one universal kind of plug? Wouldn't that make travelling so much easier? Wouldn't it unite people around the world, bringing us one step closer to global harmony? No? You sure? Oh well, I'm sure there's a very good reason for so many different kinds of plugs. But even if I knew the reason, it still doesn't change the fact that I have to find a power adapter for U.S. to European plugs so that I can take my teeny laptop to England. Man. Hopefully, finding one won't be too terribly difficult.
In completely unrelated news, I feel a lot better about my job today. Why, you ask? Two words: Employee Discount.
That's right, I went into work today, but as a customer, not an employee. It was so much fun having my co-workers suggest outfits and give me their opinions, etc. I now own many cute items of clothing, including kitty pajamas (that is, pajamas with kitties on them, not pajamas for my kitties!), and an outfit to wear to the theater in London. Awesome!
Now that I have this dressy outfit, I have to go shoe shopping... again. Didn't I just do that?
I guess this'll be a short entry tonight. It's already 11pm. I took a break mid-entry to eat pizza and watch some of my TiVoed shows. And now I'm nodding off as I type! I think I'm going to turn in early for once, and fall asleep listening to the rain... Good-night!

Thanks, Beth! You rock! I went to a local Brookstone store today and found a universal adapter! Yay!!

Check www.brookstone.com for a travel adapter.
I have a whole package of plugs with an adapter somewhere in my house I'd be happy to lend you.
But the key word in that sentence is "somewhere";)
