Sweater Weather and Other Boring Things
(( Thursday, December 18, 2003 // 11: 57 PM ))
Either there's some kind of horrible allergen in the air, or I've been talking way, way too much lately, because for the past two days, I've had a sore throat. (I'm not getting sick. NOT, do you hear me??) Seriously, though, my sore throat has only occurred at night, and for the past two nights, we've had the balcony door open because our apartment gets way super stuffy if we don't. I'm thinking allergens. They sure do suck.
So what doesn't suck?, you might be asking yourselves. I'll tell you: Sweaters! I got three cute, warm sweaters from Old Navy today. I love them, I look good in them, and they'll keep me warm overseas. What more could I ask for?
Speaking of staying warm overseas, I've been checking out the UK's weather website, as well as this celcius to fahrenheit conversion website. (But then Joe told me that if you just type out the phrase "4 degrees celsius to fahrenheit" in Google, it'll just tell you at the top of the page. Cool, huh?)
The highs in London have been between 42-56 degrees F this week, and rainy. Hmm, somehow that climate sounds familiar. It sounds like... Washington!!! And I lived there for a year and a half without needing silk long-underwear, so I'm going to be a rebel and go against a bunch of peoples' recommendations, and not buy them for this trip. We'll see if I regret that later!
One thing bugging me is my teeny laptop. I want to take it and write journal entries on it while I'm there, and then post them all online once I'm back home, right? Sounds like a good plan to me! Except that no matter how long I plug the damn thing into the wall, it still tells me I'm low on power and that the battery needs to be recharged. It's plugged into an outlet! It can use all the power it wants!! But alas, I keep getting that damn message any time I have it on for any length of time. That bastard. I wish I had a nicer laptop. If I can get this one to stop giving me that error message, though, I think it'll totally be worth it to take it along.
I've got to stop waiting until sleepy night time to write. Tomorrow I'll try to write a bit earlier in the day and maybe even write about something interesting!

Meggie! *pounce*
I just wanted to tell you that I have a Christmas giftie for you. Here's what happened; I sent off a package to a friend in England and somehow yours ended up going with it. I don't know HOW on earth that happened. It was in its own box and addressed to you so heck if I know. Damned bloody USPS. ARG.
ANYHOO... I'm having my friend send it back to me the fastest way she can. And even by air that sucker's going to take a couple of weeks to get back. THEN I have to send it you. So, Goddess only knows when you'll get it. I'm so bummed too because it was really nifty.
Just kick me the next time you see me, okay?
Posted by: Irene at December 19, 2003 09:25 AMNeil, thanks so much for the info! Hopefully, I won't get too cold, though the biting variety of cold does sound a little foreboding. I'm sure I'll figure it out! Thanks for the info!
Reenie! Hey, no problem, lady. You are super sweet for thinking of me. Maybe the package just somehow knew I was going to England and wanted to meet me there! Hee! And now I'll have something fun to open when I get back from London, yay! Nah, no kicking. How 'bout a hug instead? *HUGS*

London is about the warmest place in these islands, Meg, and those mean temperatures sound about right. You'll get the occasional waft of cold continental air from the European island but nothing that merits extra-wintry clothes. Mind, cold here tends to be of a damp, biting variety. This has also been an exceptionally mild autumn and winter.
