All Updates, All the Time!

(( Tuesday, May 4, 2004 // 03: 03 PM ))

1) No, I have not yet received my letter from EATM. In fact, my sources tell me that they haven't even had the lottery yet! Yeah. That's right. I've been eagerly checking the mail since April first, and the letters aren't even written yet, much less on their way. Oh, well. At least now, I can stop getting that little adrenaline rush every time I open the mailbox. The letter won't be coming for a few more weeks yet. So much for the letters arriving at the end of April. Now we're looking at the end of May, instead. I'm a little frustrated and disappointed by that. But hell, I've hung in there this long. Now I just need to be patient for a little while longer, I guess.

2) I keep checking UCLA's and UC San Diego's website every day to see if there are any updates. Well, nothing from UCLA yet. But UCSD? Accepted me!!! I found out yesterday. Extremely exciting! So that's a yes from UC Santa Barbara and a yes from UC San Diego. It's nice to know I've got some choices here! Now I just need to hear from EATM (the number one choice!), and I'll be set!

3) About two weeks ago (almost three), I dropped my car off at an auto body place and took BART home, expecting to retrieve him a few hours later. Well. He's still at the shop! My poor lonely car!! Remember how I needed a special module and that it might cost me $700? Well, my awesome dad totally came to my rescue. He found the part for a better price out by his home in Texas, and shipped it overnight to the car place here in California. My dad rocks! Plus, the mechanic installed it and guess what? The airbag light is OFF! Hooray!! The only problem? The passenger side airbag is missing two brackets that it needs in order to hold it in place. The guys at the shop are having a very hard time locating this part for me. Also? My brake rotors need to be replaced. And the brake pads. And the CV boot. Right now, I'm just having them deal with the airbags and not the other stuff quite yet.

Joe and I went ahead and cancelled the parking space we rent for me, as it's obvious my car isn't coming home any time soon. My poor car. I just want it to be fixed already!

4) My wrist STILL keeps acting all screwy. In fact, now my left wrist is occasionally aching as well. What is UP? Considering the weird weather changes we've been having, some of the pain might actually be due to that. It does seem to get worse with lots of computer use, though. I'm actually considering getting my hands on some voice recognition software so that I can still "type" without physically needing my hands on the keyboard. That way, I could preserve my hands for the computer stuff that really matters... gaming!

5) My mom's wrist is doing okay. In one more week, she gets her cast off and starts physical therapy! Hang in there, Mom!

6) My brother, Garth, had all four wisdom teeth removed a week ago yesterday. He's recovering nicely. In fact, he was distracted on the phone yesterday because he was playing Final Fantasy XI while talking to me. I'm telling you, it's so true: The first sign of feeling better is returning to the internet.

7) I now have a new notify list! (See below) This one doesn't even require that you email me directly. I'm like the last online journaler in the world to get one! So exciting! Go join up, will ya?
