Q is for Quick Visit

(( Monday, June 14, 2004 // 04: 14 PM ))

Ah, freshly showered and smelling like lavendar is a nice feeling, especially after a hike in the BLAZING sun. I can't believe how hot it felt on that trail. And me, wearing a dark shirt! What was I thinking??

Normally I wouldn't have even walked the trails today, but I wanted to show the itty-bitty frogs to my friend, Angela! Angela!!! Angela and I have been friends for six and a half years, and I haven't seen her in the last TWO of those! The last time we saw each other was when I got married in Las Vegas. Since then, she went to Yale, got her Masters degree in Theology, and is now finally back on the same coast! She drove across the country, saw some family in San Diego, then drove up to the Bay Area yesterday. She arrived last night, and left about a half hour ago, to head to her sister's place in Humboldt, CA. Her final destination is Seattle, and she should be there tomorrow or Wednesday!

I am mixed with feelings of tiredness from the sun, excitement that I just saw Angela, and a tiny bit of sadness from already missing her so much! I just love her.

While she was here, we talked and talked and talked! We looked at pictures, ate some food from Wendy's, and saw the frogs at the pond. Angela told me all about her upcoming pilgrammage. She and her boyfriend are going to Spain to walk a 500 mile pilgrammage in just about 10 weeks. They are both decompressing after a very stressful two years in school. Part of me thinks that is completely insane, and the other part of me (the clearly insane part) is extraordinarily envious of them! Now that I know Angela's become rather outdoorsy lately (as have I), and we both love travelling, I said that when I graduate from school, we'll have to do something crazy like that. Apparently, there are lots of places to take really long walks and go backpacking and whatnot. And Angela's totally on board, so we'll have to plan that. A few years away yet, but definitely on the list of Things To Do.

It was a quick visit, but a fabulous one, and I can't even tell you how happy I am that I got to see Angela and spend time with her again. Our next visit should be at Thanksgiving, and I'm already looking forward to it!
