W is for Web Writing
(( Tuesday, June 29, 2004 // 03: 36 AM ))
The internet is an amazing and powerful tool. For me to poop on! Heh. (And now I'm wondering what all the non- Triumph Fans are thinking...)
But anyway, I love the internet. It's why I play on it all the time. I design my own webpages, I have my own domain, I post pictures online, and I write online. Lately, I've even been talking online!
But why do I do it? Why do I sit around reading about other peoples' thoughts and lives? Why do I find myself caring about folks who, for all intents and purposes, I don't even know? Why do I care if others are reading my words or listening to my audioclips or clicking around in my gallery? I don't entirely know, but I know that I do. I care. Don't we all? I mean, isn't that why we're writing? So that other people will read?
I guess I write and make webpages because it's a great outlet for me, and it makes me feel like I'm doing something creative. It's fun to look back on and read older journal entries, too. As for reading other peoples' blogs and journals, I think I just like seeing what's on people's minds. It's really fun reading the writing of people I know in person. As for the sites of strangers, I read those partly in hope that we won't always be strangers. I've become good friends with several awesome people because of our webjournals and have had some really great experiences because of the whole web-writing thing (JournalCon comes to mind!). That's why I'm sure I'll keep writing AND reading for the foreseeable future. There's always the hope that more friendships will be made online and/or in person from all these web connections. Plus, the internet is a pretty fun and amazing place to be. I think I'll hang out for a while.
