The Good, The Bad

(Backdated to 1:40am)
The internet situation is beyond aggravating. We can only seem to keep a connection for short periods of time. Joe is working on fixing it, because apparently, the cable company can't send someone over for another week. What is that about?? No email, no access to mailing lists, no MMOs. We have no t.v., people. How in the hell are we supposed to have fun?! We have been reading. I played solitaire on my computer earlier. And now I just want my internet back... PLEASE.
Also, I'm a little pissed at the fickle shower. It seems completely bored to tears at the idea of maintaining one level of water pressure, or just ONE temperature, for the entire length of a shower. I mean, come on, clearly that is too high of a demand for me to place on my dear shower. Why not change it up a bit? Let's have some variation here! I mean, that's exciting, right? (sigh)
Okay, enough bitching. Now for some good stuff: We have the most kickass clubhouse in this apartment complex. It's two stories. On the ground level, there's a fitness room, restrooms complete with showers and saunas, a kitchen, a sitting area, and a dining table which doubles as a study area for students. Upstairs, there's another sitting area, a piano, a room with FOUR pool tables, and a theater room, with a projector and movie theater seats and everything! It's frickin' awesome.
I was thrilled (thrilled!) about the fitness room. Not only do they have a regular stationary bike (which is the only kind of cardio machine my last complex had), they have a recumbent bike, a stairmaster, a treadmill (which is currently out of order, but still!), and a Precor elliptical machine! There's a t.v. in the corner, of course, and a bunch of weight machines. There's even a mat on the floor that I've been using for stretching after my workouts. Oh yeah, that's right - my workouts. I know! ME. Working out! It's awesome. It's also been a hell of a long time (like, 5 years since I used weight machines, maybe?), but I was so excited by the fitness room, I had to try it out.
Thursday, I spent 20 minutes on the recumbent bike and did all the arm and shoulder related weight machines. Today (Saturday), I did 15 minutes on the elliptical machine (and was DRENCHED afterwards - that is quite a workout!), and did all the weight machines -- the arm, shoulder and leg ones. Then I stretched, went home, showered, and took a nap! Heh. Clearly, I'm still getting used to all this. Eventually, I hope to work out without needing a nap afterwards!
The other thing I really dig about the apartment complex is the koi. There are a bunch of manmade creeks flowing throughout the whole complex and in each of them, there are lots of beautiful koi. Some are very tiny, and some are HUGE. They're orange, red, and white. Some are cream colored with black spots! They're very pretty and lots of fun to watch. I even saw a damselfly and a dragonfly today. There are bunches of beautiful trees and plants along the walkways, too, making the whole place feel very natural and relaxing. I like it.
But all the koi, plants, and weight machines in the world won't make this a fun place to live if we can't get a goddamned broadband connection! The modem just lost connection again after about two minutes. Sonofabitch...
(Update: 4:18am ~~ We have solved the internet problems!! Or so it seems! So far, so good, anyway. It turns out the router and modem were throwing each other off. Now that they're set up way far away from each other, everything's working fine. Weird, huh? YAY -- I'M ONLINE!!!)

Welcome back!
Isn't it funny how, in such a short time really, we've grown so dependent on the internet? When I go visit my computerless parents for vacation, I feel like I'll go crazy.

Sheila, I -would- go crazy!!! My whole family is online, so I know if I ever go stay with them, I'm good to go. However, my mom used to be on DIAL-UP. Pshaw! Thank god, she has since joined the realm of cable modems.
