New Glasses and Other Randomness

(( Wednesday, November 17, 2004 // 12: 43 AM ))

I keep feeling a desire to be really creative, to make something cool. I don't know if I want to paint, or create a new page for my website, or write a ton of stories/poems/essays, take a ton of pictures, or just get lost in an incredibly engrossing novel. I also don't know if I really want to do these kinds of things, or if I'm just desiring the kind of energy/emotion I'll get from just DOING the things I keep saying I'm going to do. Studying, laundry, cleaning the house. All the things I think I hate but in actuality make me feel confident and accomplished. I think I'm just a little uppity today because I didn't exercise. My schedule is off. Back on track tomorrow.

Even though my exercise got off track, my eating's been pretty good. I tend to do really well during the day -- healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks. Dinner is the one hill left to conquer, though. Several times since my "I'm getting healthy" kick I started last week, I've thought that I wanted to splurge and have [insert not-so-healthy food here]. But I'm finding my tastes in foods are really changing, and I don't even enjoy the foods I used to love anymore. I finally got fed up with fast food, man. I just can't do that to myself anymore. I've been toying with reducing the amount of bread and pasta I eat, too, and so far, so good. I feel pretty great, actually. Tonight, though, I ate a ton of pizza and while I don't feel sick, I don't feel that lovely nourished feeling I get from healthy food either. And since I like that feeling, I think I'm going to eat only healthy foods whenever possible. Including dinner time!

In other news, I got my new glasses today! My doctor said they look really great, which was cool of him. He probably says that to everyone, but damned if it didn't make me feel awesome! Thanks, Doc! Plus, I think they look cool, too. Check it:

I'm such a dork! Ha! The third one (which was taken by Joe) makes me seem normal (thanks, Joe!), so I included it to balance out the nerdiness. It's okay -- I embrace my inner dorkitude. I suggest you do the same. Embrace my inner dorkitude, that is.

By the way, I got a 92 on my Psych midterm - an A! I'm on a roll, people. I have a paper due for Rap History on Friday and another Stats midterm on Tuesday. Hopefully, I'll do well on those, too.

While studying Stats tonight, a little hive popped up on my pinky. I've been getting hives on my hands, off and on, for a few weeks. It's stress related, and it sucks. I assume this means I need to do more in the Relaxation Department. I just ate some dark chocolate and it went away. I'm not saying it's the answer to everything, but sometimes chocolate is exactly what a person needs. And those times are called PMS.

Okay, I can't think of a clever way to end this. Good-night!

Wow, chocolate takes away hives? That is intersting!! Your glasses do look awesome, and because they bring out your inner nerd, this will help you on your midterms next week!! They are like your superpower. They allow you to see through any problem to the correct answer (they have hidden powers too!)

I do love your new glasses. They sort of retro-modern. :o)

A lady who works on the morning radio station I listen to spent part of her summer taking care of elephants at a preserve in Thailand. She loved it. You can see picture here:

Sheila, thanks for the link! SO COOL! I wanna take care of elephants in Thailand!!! Do you know how she found out about the program?

And Misti, thank you for pointing out the super powers of my new glasses. Woohoo! As for the hives, I think the chocolate just made me feel good and made me stop stressin', so that's why the hive went away. I don't think it would work every time - just depends on the situation, I guess. :)

Thanks, Mel! The first thing Joe said when he saw my glasses is that they look like yours. We can be cat twins together! Hee. :)
