Five More Days

(( Tuesday, December 7, 2004 // 11: 11 PM ))

This is my first Holidailies entry. Look at me, being all disciplined with the writing. (Ignore the fact that I'm not being disciplined with the schoolwork.) And now begins my daily ramblage...

I just received a response from a professor I emailed the other day! He didn't answer right away because he's apparently on vacation overseas, but he took the time to write me and it looks like I may be able to get into his super kickass awesome exciting elective, after all! It has to do with writing and the internet. Need I say more?

Speaking of school, I turned in my Screenwriting final exam this morning. After spending far too long driving through traffic and searching for parking, I finally found a spot on one side of campus and promptly headed to my professor's office... On the OTHER side of campus. I thought I'd given myself ample time, but suddenly felt the pressure sink in as the deadline ticked closer. I hurried over there and scampered up two flights of stairs. And those stairs were not heights-phobia friendly! There were big open spaces between all the steps AND spaces in the railings instead of a solid wall. For a moment, the memory of climbing the super-scary cathedral in London sprinted through my head. If I could do that, I could do this. Seconds later, I'd taken a deep breath, scaled the steps and popped into the safety of the great indoors. I dropped my exam in the box, glad to have completed the class. Part of me will miss it, though. It was a lot of fun, and the professor made me laugh every week. Screenwriting Fundamentals -- I highly recommend it!

That done, I left to find Jen, who I'd run into by the library during my epic journey to my professor's office. That was cool - I've never actually just run into Jen before. We always have to search for each other in the vast landscape that is our campus. Anyway, I caught up with her and her friends in the sushi place. Shortly after, it was time for the three of them to head to their next class. I'd come early for the sole purpose of turning in my exam. Since I had no place to be, I walked with them to class, thinking I'd just walk to a nice study place afterwards. Then Jen asked, "Are you going to sit in on my super awesome history class?" She'd told me great things about her professor and this class before and I'd always been curious, but had never come early enough to actually attend class. "Yeah, sure!" I said, much to Jen's surprise. Ronni was there, too, as well as a girl from our Stats class, Amy. Amy made me laugh by asking, "So how was class on Monday?" She tends to skip Rap Music class on Mondays, and if I skip, it's always Wednesdays, so we're able to fill each other in. I feel bad making it sound like we skip all the time, but... It's the kind of class you can skip, because nothing is said in class that isn't said in the textbook. That class is so not as great as I'd hoped it would be. So sad.

But, back to history -- that class is awesome! Moments before class started, Jen said about her professor, "I'm in love with that woman. In just a moment, you'll see why!" She was right. By the end of class, I thought I was in love with her, too! I've never laughed in a history class before! Jen and Ronni think they'll take her Spring class, The History of Los Angeles. I'd take it just to have a class with that prof. Having friends there would also be a giant bonus, so that's what I'll aim for. It's crazy thinking two quarters ahead, but I pretty much have my Spring schedule completely planned out!

I have to get through this quarter first, though. Five more days! Four review sessions, three more final exams, two test days next week, and big paper due on Friday! Wish me luck.
