Finals Stress

(( Tuesday, December 14, 2004 // 12: 42 AM ))

I'm drowning in a sea of statistics! Okay, so it's not that bad, but if I allow myself to think of how much material I really should go over before the final on Wednesday (so soon! help!), then I start to freak out. I haven't gotten very far in studying my Psych essays either, and that final is also on Wednesday. In fact, my finals are back to back. Did I mention Girl Week starts on Wednesday, too? Yeah, that coincides nicely. I get to be all crampified while remembering that the standard deviation of the distribution of means is not the same as the standard deviation of scores from a population. It is, in fact, the standard error, which is a different formula altogether. And that, my friends, is the easy stuff.

I'm kind of stressin', which I suppose is to be expected during finals week. I kind of hate it. I'm sure I'll survive, though. I'm already making resolutions to do better with more studying and organization and less procrastinating next quarter. Hopefully Christmas excitement won't cause me to forget all that.

Speaking of Christmas excitement... We put up our new tree! We ditched the old artificial tree when we decided we didn't want to move with it. But then Joe surprised me recently by bringing home a new and better one (this one comes with lights already attached and is seven feet tall!). We set it up on Saturday, and ever since, I've been thrilled with the lovely yuletide glow that now graces our living room.

My mom and Garth are coming to stay with us for a week, and I'm really looking forward to it. I think Mom and I are going to cook up some yummy things for Christmas and the other days they're here. I like the idea of cooking for my family and taking care of them. I know we'll have a great time together.

For now, though, I have to push aside my daydreams of sugarplums and reindeer and focus on my studies. Only two more days until I have three weeks of vacation. I guess being a student's not bad at all when you consider the vacation schedule! Okay, back to the books!
