A Fun Day
(( Monday, November 21, 2005 // 09: 51 PM ))
One day during my visit, we all took a drive together and admired the architecture and beauty of Cornell. The buildings are all made of this gorgeous gray stone, giving the campus an older charm. Which only makes sense, because it is an old campus. It's interesting - there's a certain quality to New England buildings that is really different from other places in the country. It was really cool to see all of that.
Since there was no parking and we couldn't walk around, we all took a nice long walk together once we got back home. I love seeing the neighborhood and the trees. It's so fun to be somewhere new, experiencing such a different place for the very first time.
When we got back from the walk, Wyatt and I went shopping. On the way to the store, Wyatt drove me past a house with crazy markings and lots of entrances - a very strangely built house! It is nicknamed "the Addams Family house," but it's not really certain whether it has anything to do with the house used on The Addams Family or not.
It was funny seeing Target look exactly the same as it does everywhere else except for the abundance of really warm winter wear. We picked out a swing for Ruby, as well as a CD player and an ocean waves CD. It was fun hanging out with Wyatt and just being out shopping and chatting with him.
When we got back, Wyatt built the swing and we ordered some Thai food. Ruby seemed okay with the swing, but instead of being calmed by it, she seemed to be very excited about it, getting more amped up than you'd expect. Hopefully she'll continue liking it! Alyssa and I watched the Maya wrap video and tried putting Ruby in it, but Ruby wasn't too happy about that. She seems to prefer the baby bjorn for now, but you never know, she may get used to it as she gets a little older. It's crazy to think of all the various inventions out there for babies. Trying to figure out which ones your kid likes must be an overwhelming experience sometimes!
I walked Ruby around the livingroom after she started to fuss and she fell asleep in my arms. I managed to sit down with her without waking her up. We relaxed in the chair together for a while. Then, she woke up to adjust herself and started to cry when she realized we weren't walking around anymore. Poor kiddo! We did manage to get her to relax for a while during dinner (which was amazingly delicious - pineapple curry!), and she slept while we watched episodes of "Lost" on DVD. It was a really fun day!
