American Idol's Top 12
(( Sunday, March 12, 2006 // 02: 41 AM ))
Wow, I suck at the Idol updates! I should have known that might happen. One problem is, there are other people out there writing more entertaining reviews than mine, so I tend to think, why write my own? But hey, I love this show, so I guess the other obvious question is, why not? Why not, indeed! On with the show!
This past week, the Top 12 were announced, and I was surprised at some of the choices!
I had thought that Kinnik and Melissa were goners for sure. Instead, it was Kinnik and Ayla! And I thought Ayla had done okay. I guess I'm just not a huge fan of Melissa McGhee. What's more, I had actually thought Kinnik performed okay, too. Her performance may not have been great, but it definitely was not worthy of the harsh words the judges doled out. And usually I agree with Simon, but that particularly review was a little over the top, I think.
As far as Ayla goes, my favorite part was when Joe said, "Ayla, your father is a state senator, your family's rich, and you have a basketball scholarship to go to college. I... think you'll be just fine." Ha!
The part that I always feel sorriest for them is when the judges say, "It was the song choice that got you. Bad song choice. It just didn't work for you." Then Ryan hands them the mic and says, "Okay, so could you sing that horrible career-ruining song for us one last time??"
That's gotta suck.
As for the men, I was very surprised that Kevin didn't go home! I thought it was his turn. Apparently, so did he, what with the bulging eyes and blood rushing from his head. Even though I thought Gedeon was a better singer than Kevin, I thought he was much more annoying. Apparently, so did a lot of other voters out there, because that dude is gone! Thank god for never having to listen to all his blessings of everyone and Jesus talk anymore. I had had quite enough of that, thanks. Maybe, just maybe, getting voted off will knock him down a peg or two. Probably not. Also going home from the men's group was Will, or as I like to call him, Wilma. Bye, Peter Brady! Nice knowing ya!
Favorite moments of the week:
Mandisa's performance of "I'm Every Woman"
Taylor Hicks's performance of "Takin' It To The Streets"
and
Ryan's comment to those obnoxious twins in regards to their white, poofy suits: "Where did you come from - the MOON?"
That was great! I freaking love this show.
